The Jabba Puppies are active and developing at 8 weeks old:

Hawk joins Jeanette Tracy's string and earns two placements and Elle goes to the woods and gets two of her own.

AKC FC Pine Straw Blackhawk (Hawk) has been put on Jeanette Tracy's field trial string. Jeanette handled him to a 2nd place finish at the Delaware Pointer and Setter Club trial and a 3rd place finish at the Mid Atlantic Red Setter Club trial in late March and early April.

We took Pine Straw Covergirl (Elle) up to Pennsylvania to try her hand at grouse and woodcock trials. She took 3rd in the Venango Puppy Classic and then 2nd in the Puppy stake at the Pennsylvania Grouse Club trial.

We finally got some good weather to get the puppies outside. Below are a few pictures.

Kit and Elle get two more placements at GSP Club of Atlanta trial.

On March 9th, Kit and Elle ran in the Amateur puppy stake at the GSP Club of Atlanta trial at Luke Weaver's farm near Jackson, GA. Kit took 1st place and Elle took 2nd. They both ran as big as we could have asked and had a good time doing it. We're pretty excited about the potential that these two are showing.

Here are some current photos of Katie's litter with Jabba. Four of Katie's last litter already have horseback placements at 9 months. One of them even has a derby placement. Hawk wins hour horseback stake and amateur stake at Di-Lane and Elle won first in the Open Puppy.

The last weekend in February found us down at the historic Di-Lane plantation for another American Field / AKC dual sanctioned horseback trial. Jamie Fountain of Oconee Kennels ran Hawk in the 1 hour Open Restricted (Grand) Shooting Dog Stake. Hawk put down an outstanding race and garnered three finds, his last was a well dug up find on a covey of wild quail. I ran Hawk in the amateur horseback shooting dog stake and he again took the top spot with 3 finds and a back. Hawk is on a roll, since Thanksgiving he has had five 1st place wins, 2 seconds and a third.

Elle ran an excellent race in the Open (horseback) puppy. She topped the field and got the blue ribbon. Her littermate Tug got his first field trial placement with a fourth place in the Open Puppy. Four of Katie's pups from that litter now have horseback placements.

Highground Jax Jabba X Pine Straw Katydid puppies arrive.

Katie whelped 5 puppies today from the breeding to Jabba. Three females and two males made up this litter. We got a mixture of Tri-colors and Orange and whites. We look forward to seeing these pups mature. We're hoping to get great bird dogs that will really roll.
